Daniela Simina takes us on a fairy tale journey across Europe, exploring the similarities between Romanian & Irish Faries.
Although ‘Were Fairies Meet’ is a compact book, it manages to compare many aspects of the Fae Folk in detail by providing snippets of folklore with cultural context & references from modern day Fairy scholars.
I found this book fascinating – my understanding of these curious Otherworldly creatures is very much based on Irish Lore, to be shown the similarities from Romanian tradition in engaging yet easy to read chapters has sparked my interest for further study.
Once I had found the rhythm of the book, I really enjoyed it. Afterall, what Fae Folk obsessed human can resist topics such as Fairies playing sports, Dragons, Irish Fairy Doctors, Hags, Gods & how the Wee Ones like to party?!
Overall, a highly enjoyable book which can be an invitation to deeper exploration or a just a darn good read.
